Style File on Capes

In the transitional months, when it’s not quite cold enough to wear a coat, but you need another layer, choose the Cape. We believe it is the perfect wardrobe essential.

Loved by celebs such as Taylor Swift, who favours a tartan/plaid pattern cape matched with skinny jeans and ankle boots.

Actress Rachel Weisz is also a fan of capes as shown here wearing a luxe camel cape draped over one shoulder, trimmed in black, and matched with knee-high black boots.

Or supermodel Karlie Kloss who wears a striped cape in block colours with matching accessories and indigo jeans.

So now that we have established the need for a cape - how do you wear it?

There are three main options on how to wear a cape.

1. Place the curve of the cape around your neck and let it naturally drape either side.

2. Place the curve of the cape around your neck, then take the right-hand corner of the cape and drape it across the left shoulder - accessorise with a brooch (optional).

3. Place the curve around your neck as before and then cinch in with your favourite belt to accentuate your waist.

A tip for cape wearers
Capes come in two lengths: mini - regular or classic - long. Your height should determine which cape will look best on you.
